| His body's a wee bit short, and his plait's kinda stiff. Just so you know. | |

| Yeah, I've been trying to draw without using frames. I only used a frame for the head but not the body. I guess I should start back on that seeing as it hasn't improved yet. | |

| A lot of people do this sort of thing: I'm not a fan of that sort of drawing, personally. I think one should learn to draw what one can see or imagine seeing, not what something "should" look like, which this method encourages (well... enforces). Good to hear you're moving away from it, Demacrez. :D | |

| Ah, but that helps get the vision right, meev. It's more useful for getting proportions right before a bunch of detail goes on.
Besides, you can deviate away from that easily to get a different style of shaping.

| What is right and what is wrong?
I say that what is in one's head is right. If one can't put one's imagination on paper, one can't draw and one needs to practice until one can. You shouldn't need guidelines if you have a vision. If you have no vision, you will not be remembered. If your vision is a minor deviation on someone else's, you don't stand much of a chance.
Diagrams are for architects, not artists.

| But that's the great thing about art: there are no rules to it. It really depends on how the artist tries to convey their art. Guidelines are what they say: guidelines. I'll still need them before I can move on without them so until then, practice makes perfect. | |

| Well, of course, it's up to you. I just don't think one can achieve if one makes an effort to conform to other people's ideas. I think one should practice the method that one would ideally use, not an inferior makeshift method "until one is better". That just doesn't cut it. | |
