| Wow, that's awesome. It looks like the splash page for a really cool video game or something. In fact, I kept trying to click on it to play, lol.
Really cool. |

You'll find it's not a penguin, but infact, a "Calamity Cat" in disguise as a penguin. Thanks otherwise for all the great comments |

| I really like the style of art you have there. That's something I wanted to learn back in 6th grade, because I was into drawing then, but those days have vanished. |

| You'll probably recognise the character, he's for a project a friend and I are working on - this is a promo if you like. Though it was really to have a go at backgrounds, which is by far my weakspot. I like the painted feel - though it's lacking a little definition. Not too sure if it works with the character. Tell me what you think! |

| Glad to hear you're interested! However, even though I've roughly planned the story, I wouldn't expect it to be released anytime soon. |

Oh wait, you said not soon. LATER perhaps?? |

| I mentioned in another thread about "Edmund & Darrell" that I plan to do as a series. I made a "Teaser" poster: Tell me what you think! |

| Very cool as usual. You need to change the kerning on the subtitle, because the two lines are too far apart. Move them closer together and it will look just right.
When is this series launching?! I want to see... |

| Thanks for the advice JKR I'll work on it straight away. As for when it's going to be released... don't hold your breathe - but hopefully as soon as I can. Perhaps I can do episode 1 by the end of the year. |

That's really good advice, Jay. I didn't catch that, but it's true, it would add a lot of dimension to the body of the character if you made it follow the curve. Or, of course, you could do the cartoony thing and have it jut out straight like it was heavily starched and never bent. (That might be easier to animate, lol...) |

| Got some work on Edmund & Darrell for you to feast your eyes upon. Firstly, I drew their house: And, I've done my very first bit of animation with one of the characters, Edmund: It looks pretty bad if you study his legs too long, but I think at a quick glance (which is all it'll be used for) it'll look pretty swanky. Love to know what you think! |

| Cool beans. I agree, it will probably work for very quick movements, but any longer than a few seconds and it breaks a lot.
I don't think it would be a tremendous amount more work to get it in better shape, though, if you'd like me to show you how. Essentially you just need about four more frames, in the "passing position" so the legs don't just move back and forth. Actually, I'm pretty sure you know that. Didn't the Rhino you make have a full run cycle?
Looking good so far, though!
Walk cycles are rough... I'm doing Fred's right now and it's beating me up.
Also, for the house, if you don't have it dead center (put the hill and house to the right of the shot, but not blocking the sun completely) it will make for a stronger composition. |

| Hey JKR, thanks for the advice! I agree with you that it does look alot like the legs are just bouncing off one-another. To be honest - I can't really think how to animate to look right, as not using outlines makes it hard to see any difference between his front and back leg. The Rhino worked on a circular motion, the back legs would hide up behind his body, then as the front legs slid back, they came back down at the front - I'm pretty stunned that I pulled that one off. But, by all means - if you know how to fix it, I'd love to know! Here's the .fla if anyone wants to tinker with it: http://www.carrotcakestudios.co.uk/edmundrunning.flaOh, and for the house - I'll certainly give it a shot! |
