I've been "back" for about a half a day... But no, I've been thinking about this for a while. Just because I haven't been logged in doesn't mean I haven't been watching. I don't hold any grudges against Jay, but he was getting just as bad as Stick, and you know as well as I that he would have been a complete twat and make a scene about it. I realize that I'm no less a twat than he for doing what I did, but it was either ban them both or not try at all. There's no way Jay would have let Stick go without causing enormous problems. What was I to do?

I never said that they were gone indefinitely, either. For now, I want to at least see if we can make things work. It's never going to be CT, no -- I don't expect it to be. Hell, I don't expect much of anything. But this is just stupid. It's an unfriendly, god-awful mess. So we're going to see if it can be fixed. Stick had to go. And I don't care what anyone says, Jay does look for reasons to bitch and challenge people, and he would have unquestioningly taken me banning Stick as an opportunity to be a complete ass. If that were the case, there would be zero chance of this working.

I'm sorry. I really, really am. But don't think that I did this because I'm pissy or spiteful or something -- I did it because there's nothing else to it.

To be frank, Jay is totally fine (actually a really good poster) when Stick isn't around. Stick brings out the worst in him, though. I'm just being honest here, nothing against either of them. Put them together, and generally things fall apart (in terms of what you're trying to have the forum be, I mean). Generally Tits McGee is the one to instigate the furry stuff and calling people/things stupid and worthless. I feel bad, because I can't imagine he's very happy being so negative all the time. But I understand, I was like that when I was younger as well. I hated everything and everyone, and thought human beings were all jerks.

Thank God I met my wife and then went back to having my faith, honestly. Changed my entire outlook.

See normally I would have agreed fully with most of this, but there is some problems.

Stick for a long time was just an idiot. Someone banned him, he came back, and all of a sudden we had a newer Stick. For some reason me, Jay, and possibly a couple of others were the only ones who could see it. Everyone else (and apparently you too) is blinded by past incidents and won't look ahead. Stick didn't always be completely serious, but hell he made conversation. Yea he was pretty cynical and would lash out too quick, but he often put in his honest opinion and talked normally about games. Jay never, ever did anything wrong and was a great person to have around, banning him because you think he would challenge you is the stupidest thing ever. And him being an ass? Only to you, the person who banned Stick. As long as there was solid reasoning for you banning him, such as when he posted a whole bunch of porn and spam on the old CT forums I'm entirely sure Jay would just move on. But let's be honest, banning Stick was totally something that you did because you thought he was tearing the forums down. Something most of the members think because of what he's done before but if you can't just let old stuff go this place won't get off the ground.

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to do, but banning Stick and Jay won't solve anything. Nor will it bring anyone else in to this place. Remember when Peri came back and told us exactly what he thought went wrong, and why he left? I doubt it, I'm not sure you were here. What he said was something along the lines of that he'd learned a lot about building and maintaining a community, and the main thing? When JKR nuked the Battle Zone it was between him and JW. Decisions on things like that aren't made by 1 or 2 people. There has to be a group of administrative people, without any single person with the overall say, who can talk things over and see it from all perspectives.

Now please don't get the wrong idea from this. I'm glad you're back Wraith, and wish you a warm welcome. But don't make decisions that affect this place without talking with some other reasonable people! If this place is going to be rebuilt, its going to be by us. As a community. Not one admin, not one member, but everyone. It only takes a couple of too quick decisions by someone with power to bring a place like this down, but it takes a helluva lot more to rebuild. Alienating almost anyone is just an awful idea, and that's what banning Stick and Jay will do. Mega is so right I can't even begin to explain, so I guess I just repeat what he says a lot. You can't force a community.

Personal opinion: ban Stick. Not permanentely, but for a while. Yeah, he may have gotten slightly better (ie, reduced the spam by about 15%) but I don't think we should have to compromise. He's a troll, plain and simple. As for Jay, the banning was kinda unneccesary. He's a good guy, I say let him back (although he was kinda asking for it with the whole "no-one likes you thing").

Also, try asking for a general opinion before making a big decision. That's something I should've done before I banned Stick, I kinda assumed that's what everyone wanted.

Yep. That's the exact definition of what a mod SHOULDN'T be.

Stick hasn't done anything recently to warrant a ban, though for some reason if he says something a mod thinks is trolling (remember, anyone else does something like this its fine.) he gets banned.

Truth be told, Tits McGee's gotten better. The level that he's at, or at least the level he was at last time I took a good look, was good. I mean sure, he's close to the border, but he's not crossing it.

Jay is good. Once again I'll admit that I haven't been paying that much attention, but I see no problems with him whatsoever.

Feel free to give me some solid evidence to the contrary, but currently I think they're fine.
