So the NZ government decided to raise the price of tobacco products. Cigarettes by 10% (i.e. Pall Mall 20s used to cost $10, now they're $11) and roll-your-own tobacco by 20% (i.e. 30 gram pack (that I usually buy) of roll your-own-tobacco used to be $20, and is now $24). So is raising the price of tobacco products really the answer to try and stop people quitting? Because, more people would go and buy illegal tobacco products for about half the price that they do in the shops, and could be even more harmful than the legal stuff.
