Firstly, Alyx is in no way a "hot love interest". Besides for a few in-game jokes, there is no way that Alyx will have any romantic relations with anyone. And that is something I can guarantee. Secondly, you might not spend a whole lat of time with Barney, but he's still an awesome, and funny character. Kleiner iss more than a scientist. He has personality. And as for Dog... ok, there I was pushing it :P

Ok, I don't see where you're getting this whole Alyx will have no romantic relationships, but it's pretty clear to me that her and Gordan are going to get it on by the end of Ep. 3. I'm pretty sure that whole life force connection will have something to do with it as well. I like Barney, he's a good character, but there's not much to him. Same for Kleiner. They all have personality, but that was achieved with voice acting. Nintendo gives their mute characters so much personality and character, and they don't even have to talk.
