Well, it was weird having a cubetoons forum without cubetoons.
Closing the forum seemed a bit drastic though. Perhaps it should have first been streamlined (I like how few boards there are here) then maybe choked a little in the rules section to accommodate the target audience of Fred the Monkey (10-16?) and then overall taken from there. A warning then a close just seems like jumping off a cliff rather than repelling slowly.
but eh, right or wrong doesn't mean much for what's already done

My psychiatrist says I have a problem with going to extremes instead of shooting for middle ground.
Also my wife and mother agree with that opinion.
What can I say, it's who I am. If I wasn't who I am, who would I be?!? I've learned it's a blessing and a curse. It can sometimes be a negative, but also it will help me do things I'd be too timid to try otherwise, like the cartoons and such.

I try to be as much as possible. You guys deserve real answers, not some political nonsense that doesn't make any sense.

Yes and no.
It's his site, he can do whatever the crap he wants with it.
Unfortunately, without his rules, this is just a random site on the internet where anything goes, as long as it isn't pr0n. That's just not a website I can be apart of... So for guys like me, no, that probably wasn't a good move. Have fun with the new site guys, and good luck. *waves as he rides off into the sunset on a giant banana.*

Cubetoons died for me ages ago. I could reminisce for hours about the "glory days". I used to enjoy actually contributing something meaningful to the community every day. But in the end, I moved on and so did most of the others I knew. I ended up coming back later because I am sometimes bored out of my mind at work, but it isn't the same. With the state of Cubetoons before I left I feel pretty "meh" about JKR's decision.
And if you don't know who I am, I am Red_Fif and should be a freakin' legend around here. I was the 9th user to register at cubetoons and I really had a good time.
FTR: Mr. Tetris and that who shall not be named (one and the same) truly were the beginning of the end. We just got too caught up in the drama.

So I joined just before Cubetoons started ending? That doesn't seem right.
I think its when the drama started repeating that we went downhill. (i.e. mat-a-no + Fizzlo.)

I joined the mod staff of the Minecraft forum a while ago and I've been acting as a mediator there for longer than that. I was reminded of this place recently, so I decided to stop by. I typed out a long, long, bitter, wall of text here and decided to delete it. I'm going to sum it up to this:
From what I understand, some admin told JKR to close the Battlezone and JKR did it without warning and without conferring with the mods, or anyone else. This is bullshit. If I knew as much about how communities work as I do now, I would have abandoned ship right there with Meev.
That was a huge, community-affecting decision. You do not make those at one person's insistence-- especially when, far as I can tell, that person isn't even a real part of the fucking community.
JKR closing the forum was akin to putting down a sick, old dog. The end can be professional, planned, and painless, or it can involve a lot of misery and shitting on the carpet.

There is a Pop-Up that comes up when you have a new PM.
