I don't know, but you could still press the install key just to claim a copy.
Just not play it.
And anyway, I'll be up for it.

Though I'm still not a gamer, I'll download it for the hell of it.
Since I like free stuff.

The only thing I don't like about this game is the camera angle. It just seems a bit awkward for what looks like a Third Person Shooter.

Top down is good for games like this, sorta like Diablo and Smash TV. It'll work.
Also, how about we make a forum-wide "Let's Play" of this game? We all arrange to play the game on Friday or something, someone records it, uploads it to Youtube, fun times?

Hmm I suppose so, but whoever has the best video card has to do it.
And we could also do a Let's Play of HL:2 Deathmatch considering you can get it free depending on your video card. As long as you have an ATi or Nvidia, you can actually get it for free. Integrated Intel GPU's are out of luck.

I'm on level 11 or something, no promotion. Haven't been able to play too much.

Does the leveling system ever run out of unlockables?

If I understand what you are asking, here is what happens.
You get a new unlock every level, alternating between a weapon and an off-hand item. The last weapon is at lvl 27. Then you no longer gain experience. At lvl 27 you have the option of exchanging your weapons and resetting your lvl for a promotion. This means you start at lvl 1 with no unlocks and you have to do it all over again. Promotions are aesthetic, people will see a medal next to your level while in the lobby.
There are 3 promotions total, 1st Titanium, 2nd Carbide, 3rd Gallium. Which means you would have to level to 27 four times to achieve all promotions and unlock all weapons.

So giving up all your weapons only gives a shiny little badge? That's disappointing...

But it's shiny.
It doesn't take long to get them all back.
