Your game of the year?

Simple question: What was your favourite game this year?

I would've said Fallout NV or maybe Dead Rising 2 about a month ago, but now I have to say it's Super Meat Boy. That game is incredibly fun, and it's only $15 on Steam, so GET IT NOW (if you want a sample, check out "Meat Boy" on Newgrounds. The controls are worse and it's generally less awesome but it'll give you a good idea of what to expect).

I've played a lot of games this year, considering how my Steam library went from 2 to 30.

But I would say my favorite game this year was Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

It just has the best multiplayer of any FPS out in this year, and probably last year.

Honorable Mention: Crysis Warhead

Why because my favorite game series of all time is DKC, I don't own Starcraft 2, and from what I've heard/seen it isn't a huge improvement on the first, which wasn't my favorite game anyway?

I liked New Vegas, though not as much as Fallout 3, and not nearly enough to deem it GOTY -- DLC might change that, but we'll see.

Honestly, I loved Splinter Cell: Conviction more than anything else. The action scenes were cliche, the voice acting was contrived at best, it was far, far too short, and sometimes just frustrating. But when it was good, it was really damn good. And as far as same-console co-op games for the 360 go, it was about as close to perfect as you can get (though again, far too short).

I think I'll have to go with Starcraft II on this. Or Mario Galaxy 2.

Mario Galaxy 2 was a far cry from the first one. 2 was way too easy in my opinion, and the whole green stars thing was stupid. Though the game was still really fun it isn't absolutely amazing.

As for my game of the year, I have no idea. I'm not great at choosing favorite anything, and for just one year it gets even harder for some reason.

Yeah I really didn't like Galaxy 2, pretty much for the same reasons, and that is was just kind of an expansion on the first instead of a whole new game.

Other than that, I don't think I've actually played many games that have come out this year. Only things that come to mind are Heavy Rain and Ace Attorney Investigations, but neither of them were OMGZAWESOME or anything.

Really? I found SMG2 to be MUCH better than the first. Whatever. To each their own.

Just Cause 2, I guess... nothing that great came out this year.

And personally, Red Dead is my GotY. Awesome story, fun multiplayer (that I didn't take part in as much as I'd like to) and just all around epic.

Yeah. I'm going with Red Dead as well now. Just started playing it and oh my god. <3

There isn't anything wrong with that at all, but when the levels are easier and the gameplay isn't much different I'm not getting the "this game is better than the first" vibe.

STALKER Call of Pripyat came out early this year, and though I didn't try it or any other entry in the series until recently, I'd have to say of the games that I've played from this year... That'd be the one I spent the most time on.Of course I didn't really play many games that released this year, let alone look at them.

The Diplomacy mini-expansion for Sins of a Solar Empire gets an honorable mention for what it does, but I didn't spend nearly as much time with it as I could/should.

Halo, WoW, Fallout, and Mass effect just aren't my cup of tea. Rd Dead was good, but Just cause and brotherhood are better. Speaking of brotherhood thats my goty

My most played game would have to go to WoW, since I got readdicted to it. But GotY probably Galaxy 2.

Frankly it wasn't that exciting of a year for me for games. I know, a lot came out, I just wasn't that interested. I expect the 3DS will change all that come March.
