Where you talk about kickass mods for vidya games. Post whatever ones you think are interesting and discuss, obviously.
I'll start it off.
Someone is making a multiplayer mod for Crysis Wars based off of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

What I don't understand- why make a Crysis mod of STALKER if STALKER already has multiplayer of sorts? Or is this CO-OP multiplayer?

I do not know, I could guess why, but I didn't even know STALKER had multiplayer until you spoke of it right now.
I guess just to experience it on the CryEngine, which is the same reason why there are numerous mods for it remaking games.

STALKER has the mandatory multiplayer types as far as I know- online deathmatch, capture the flag... I don't actually know the details but it's there.
I can't really imagine why people would make mods only to recreate games that already exist in perfectly playable states but okay!

I understand remakes of previous gen games.

Neither do I.
The games are at least older, youngest being STALKER.

Remakes of previous gen games make sense to me too, but... STALKER ShoC was made in 2007, which really isn't that old. I can't really imagine what the point of this Crysis mod is seeing as it's multiplayer specific and that's not what STALKER is about. And if this mod is about experiencing STALKER a new way, why a multiplayer mod of all things? (Unless it's co-op, which still doesn't make too much sense to me.)

Back before people modded things like nobody's business, my best friend and I hacked apart the original Doom and inserted our school teachers as the enemies. Well, he hacked it, I did the photo sprites. It was a lot of fun. Of course, these days if you do that they assume you're psychotic and need to be put on medication. (They assumed we were crazy then, too, but they didn't throw drugs at the problem back then.)
I guess it's rather hypocritical considering I did that stuff, but these days it seems like such a RIDICULOUS waste of time that it's rather sad to me. Here these people with clearly a lot of intelligence are wasting their time putting Mario into Half Life, when they could do so, so, so much more. Back when I was younger, we didn't have opportunities to DO something with our talents, but thanks to the internet and ready access to a wealth of programs and material, the modders could do so much with their time way more worthwhile. Ah well, that's just me lamenting my own wasted youth, I suppose. It would be easier on me now if I had actually done something productive. Time forces that lesson on everyone eventually, though.
